Purple Finch

Description

The record cold and snow this year have been very hard on the birds. We've found several dead close to the house: pine siskins, goldfinch, purple finch, and heard of many dead bluebirds. Many less coming to the feeders than before. The larger birds seemed to fare better. (Animals)

Congratulations, Janet on your wonderful photo's selection for Gold! We too lost some Pine Siskins this year. The state wildlife experts said it was likely due to salmonellosis combined with cold weather and told us to bring in our feeders for 3 weeks. We'll put them back out on Easter Sunday. #11888591
